Getting started with Ledger Live

Concise, secure steps to install, set up, and begin managing your crypto with Ledger Live.

Slide 1 — What is Ledger Live?

Overview

Ledger Live is the official desktop and mobile companion app for Ledger hardware wallets. It lets you create and manage accounts, view balances across many cryptocurrencies, send and receive funds, swap tokens, stake supported assets, and keep your device firmware up to date.

Checklist

Quick tip

If you prefer additional verification, compare the downloaded file's signature/hash against Ledger's published signatures.

Slide 3 — Download & install

Steps (desktop)

  1. Open Ledger Live download page and choose your OS.
  2. Run the installer and follow on-screen prompts.
  3. When prompted, connect and unlock your Ledger hardware device using its PIN.

Mobile

Ledger Live is available on iOS and Android — install from the official app stores or use ledger.com links for direct references.

Slide 4 — First run: set up or restore

Create a new device vs restore

Ledger Live guides you to either set up a new Ledger device (generating a new recovery phrase on the device itself) or restore an existing device from a recovery phrase. Remember: never enter your recovery phrase into your computer or phone — only on the Ledger device when requested during device setup.
